Figure 7.1 summarize the cloud classes and types nicely. Briefly, Low clouds: stratus, stratocumulus, and nimbostratus; middle clouds: altostratus and altocumulus; high clouds: cirrus, cirrostratus, and cirrocumulus; and vertically developed clouds: cumulus and cumulonimbus.
