Before a student with a possible learning problem is referred for a special education evaluation, the general education classroom teacher is expected to:

  c. form a prereferral team to evaluate the problem.
  d. plan testing strategies to solve the problem.

Acceleration allows gifted and talented students to move through the curriculum at a more rapid pace. An example would be allowing a fourth grader to be moved to fifth-grade math. Enrichment provides opportunities to explore topics in more depth, such as involving students in projects and learning center activities.
