Answer to Question 1

ANS: B
A leak around a cuff could cause a pressure support breath to never flow cycle. For this reason, most ventilators time cycle at a maximum inspiratory time of 1.5-2 seconds.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
Minute ventilation equals respiratory rate multiplied by tidal volume (VT). Therefore, tidal vol-ume equals minute ventilation divided by respiratory rate.
