Answer to Question 1

D

Answer to Question 2

C
Feedback:
When caring for a client for whom electroconvulsive therapy is ordered, the nurse should instruct the client not to chew gum before the ECT procedure. Antiseizure medications are not to be given before ECT. These medications are withheld beginning approximately 6 PM the evening before ECT. The nurse should allow the client to sleep after ECT because most clients are tired after ECT and sleeping can help prevent after-ECT complaints, such as headache. The nurse should encourage the client to drink large amounts of fluids because clients often complain of a dry mouth after ECT.
