Answer to Question 1

C
Feedback:
Streptococcal strep throat is common in young children older than 2 years of age. If the child complains of a lump in the throat rather than a sore throat, and feels sick all over, strep is the likely cause. Scarlet fever is also known as scarlatina. Symptoms develop after an incubation period of 1 to 7 days; they include the appearance of a generalized flush or redness caused by a sandpaper-like rash of pinpoint-like red spots crowded together (macular rash). Rheumatic fever, an autoimmune reaction to GABHS, belongs to a group of diseases called collagen diseases (diseases of connective tissues). Roseola is a benign disease of infancy, with a very high fever lasting a few days, followed by a rash appearing first on the trunk and then spreading to the neck, face, and extremities when the child's temperature falls.
