Answer to Question 1

A
Feedback:
The birth attendant may order an amniocentesis when he or she suspects intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), which generally results in an infant that is small for gestational age (SGA). IUGR can begin at any time during pregnancy and is linked to inadequate amounts of oxygen and nutrients necessary for fetal growth. Causes related to maternal conditions include diabetes (gestational or long-standing), placental growth or functioning, intrauterine infection, or pregnancy-induced hypertension.

Answer to Question 2

B
Feedback:
Enablers must come to understand that alcoholics have a bad disease, but are not bad people. Preventing crises and shielding the alcoholic will not solve the problem. Many alcoholics and other substance abusers become motivated to seek help only when their well-being or the status quo is threatened. Enabling allows a life-threatening condition to continue and progress.
