Answer to Question 1

F
The economic environment may influence health-seeking behavior. Low-income families gener-ally access the health care system for preventive care less often than families with moderate to upper levels of income. In addition, it is more likely that women and children of low socioeco-nomic status will not be insured.

Answer to Question 2

T
Everyone exists within an environment, the surroundings or conditions that exert an influence on, and affect the health of, a person. One's environment is made up of physical, cultural, spiritual, social, economic, and developmental components. The environment can be supportive of a healthy lifestyle, or it can be a source of stress. The RN must recognize the influence of the en-vironment on people's health care abilities.

Dogs have been used in studies to detect various cancers in human subjects. They have been trained to sniff breath samples from humans that were collected by having them breathe into special tubes. These people included 55 lung cancer patients, 31 breast cancer patients, and 83 cancer-free patients. The dogs detected 54 of the 55 lung cancer patients as having cancer, detected 28 of the 31 breast cancer patients, and gave only three false-positive results (detecting cancer in people who didn't have it).
