Answer to Question 1

Ans: D
Feedback:
The new graduate from a practical nursing program will care for stable clients with appropriate supervision and perform entry-level tasks and administer medications according to their state licensure. A client in a coma or a client requiring neurological monitoring of cerebral perfusion pressure and intracranial pressure is beyond the educational preparation of a practical nurse. The practical nurse is taught to assess a client's neurologic status but does not have the training to perform a detailed neurologic assessment. A practical nurse graduate may teach skills to a client, such as postural drainage. The registered nurse should write a detailed teaching plan and teach the client on how to care for a neurological shunt.

Answer to Question 2

Ans: A
Feedback:
Opponents of multistate licensing believe that it may be difficult to discover disciplinary sanctions on a licensee. Educational programs vary between states, but standards of practice are more homogeneous. Cost and insurance issues are not commonly raised as points of opposition to the NLC.
