Answer to Question 1

C
Bedside nurses can assist in the research process by bringing curiosity and a dedication to lifelong learning and best practices to their jobs. Nurses with more advanced preparation can join or even lead research teams. The role is vital to underpin nursing practice. All nurses need a basic understanding and comfort with the research process in order to identify studies that might pertain to their patient populations or work settings.
Nurses may have the opportunity to join research teams in their institutions and assist this process at some level, but this does not fully explain the stated opinion.
Nursing is a wide-open field with many areas needing research, but this is too narrow a description to explain the nurse's stated opinion.
Returning to staff nursing after a research study is finished does show flexibility but only for the nurses involved in a research project.

Answer to Question 2

B, C, D, E
The IOM's report's key messages and related recommendations affirm and encourage professional nurses to practice fully, achieve higher levels of education, become full partners in providing and reforming health care, and develop an infrastructure for workforce data collection. Credentialing is not one of the key recommendations.
