Answer to Question 1

ANS: T
Since multidose tubes of ointment are easily contaminated, the first 1/2 inch is squeezed out and discarded, and then the appropriate portion is applied to the sterile field. Once on the sterile field, it should be labeled.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: D
An ideal anesthetic agent should provide amnesia, have a rapid onset and easy reversibility, maximum safety with minimum side effects and provide predictable analgesia that extends into the postoperative period.

There are major differences in the metabolism of morphine and the illegal drug heroin. Morphine mostly produces its CNS effects through m-receptors, and at k- and d-receptors. Heroin has a slight affinity for opiate receptors. Most of its actions are due to metabolism to active metabolites (6-acetylmorphine, morphine, and morphine-6-glucuronide).
