Answer to Question 1

The correct location for a cow liver biopsy is on the right side at the juncture of the upper
third and middle third of the 11th intercostal space. The easiest method to use for locating this
position involves drawing a horizontal line from the middle of the right paralumbar fossa to
the 11th intercostal space.

Answer to Question 2

Heavy sedation will suppress the cough reflex. The reflex is triggered when instilling saline
into the trachea. This reflex assists with sample collection.
