Answer to Question 1

A
An illusion is a misinterpreted sensory perception. A hallucination is a false sensory perception
occurring without a corresponding sensory stimulus. Feeling bugs on the body when none are
present is a tactile hallucination. Option B: Misinterpreting shadows as faces is an illusion. Options
C and D are examples of behaviors sometimes occurring during delirium that are related to
fluctuating levels of awareness and misinterpreted stimuli.

Answer to Question 2

D
Caplan suggests that in stage 1 the individual tries the usual problem-solving methods in an attempt
to lower anxiety. In stage 2, trial-and-error attempts at solving the problem are used to restore
equilibrium. In stage 3, automatic relief behaviors such as withdrawal and flight are used. In stage 4,
the anxiety can be so overwhelming as to lead to serious personality disorganization or suicidal
behavior.

Your skin wrinkles if you stay in the bathtub a long time because the outermost layer of skin (which consists of dead keratin) swells when it absorbs water. It is tightly attached to the skin below it, so it compensates for the increased area by wrinkling. This happens to the hands and feet because they have the thickest layer of dead keratin cells.
