Answer to Question 2

C, D, E, F
The patient is taking the maximum dose of this SSRI and has ingested an additional unknown amount of the drug, increasing the risk of serotonin syndrome. Symptoms of serotonin syndrome include abdominal pain, diarrhea, tachycardia, elevated blood pressure, hyperpyrexia, increased motor activity, delirium, muscle spasms, seizure, and apnea. Serotonin syndrome may progress to a full medical emergency if not treated early. Hypotension is not a likely consequence of serotonin syndrome (although fluctuation in vital signs may occur). Although assessing for suicidal ideation is never inappropriate, serotonin hyperactivity does not typically increase suicide ideation or risk, and physiological symptoms should be the initial focus.
