Answer to Question 1

ANS: 2
Homeless shelters rarely have the staff to serve individuals who are actively hallucinating or de-lusional, who are intoxicated, or who display overtly threatening behavior. Because many se-verely and persistently mentally ill are homeless and because many self-medicate with alcohol, the students will likely see a relatively high number of intoxicated clients who will be refused services. Option 1: Developmental disability is not a barrier to obtaining services at a shelter. Op-tions 3 and 4 are not barriers to obtaining services at a shelter; in fact, most shelter clients mani-fest these characteristics.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: 1
The expected outcome that he will not verbalize intentions to harm others is directly related to the problematic behavior. Option 2 is incorrect because the client was demonstrating psychotic behaviors at the time he threatened neighbors. Options 3 and 4 are important but not directly re-lated to the behavior-prompting admission.
