Answer to Question 1

ANS: A
Individuals who demonstrate an internal locus of control view their capability to have per-sonal success or failure as having to do with their own efforts and their ability to complete a task. An individual with an external locus of control views task completion as having to do with circumstances beyond his or her control. The options involving the economy, never be-ing able to pay off the bills, and having a family exhibit external control locus.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: C
The pituitary gland secretes adrenocorticotropic hormone, which stimulates the adrenal cortex to release cortisol. Cortisol is involved in helping the entire body to react to the stress by mo-bilizing the energy reserves so that the body can rapidly respond to the stressors by either fighting or fleeing.

People who have myopia, or nearsightedness, are not able to see objects at a distance but only up close. It occurs when the cornea is either curved too steeply, the eye is too long, or both. This condition is progressive and worsens with time. More than 100 million people in the United States are nearsighted, but only 20% of those are born with the condition. Diet, eye exercise, drug therapy, and corrective lenses can all help manage nearsightedness.
