Answer to Question 1

Diets that have been specifically formulated for ferrets are also available. Many of these include blood and blood by-products, which contribute to foul-smelling stools. Whichever choice is made, abrupt or random changes in brands should be avoided to prevent diarrhea and intestinal upset

Answer to Question 2

Removing items that are easy access for the ferret to take and swallow. Caution needs to be taken with furniture that might trap a ferret inside. Ferrets may disappear into small spaces that the owner may not have even noticed.
