Antibodies provide protection by preventing pathogens from entering the body through mucosal surfaces or by killing or helping kill pathogens in the blood and other extracellular environments in the body, or by initiating the process of inflammation with increased phagocytosis.

Answer to Question 2

The two types of adaptive immunity include humoral immunity (antibodies) and cell-mediated immunity.
