material, (4) size of pieces, (5) description of parts, (6) total feet, (7) unit cost, and (8) total component
cost.

When formulating animal feeds, nutritionists use the following three criteria:

1 . The set of nutrients as recommended for the species by the National Research Council
2 . The relative cost of different potential constituents of the diet (least cost formulation)
3 . Chemical analysis of the various constituents of the diet
