primary nutrients are nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). Other nutrients that are
required in smaller amounts include calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), and sulfur (S). They are
secondary nutrients. The primary and secondary nutrients, considered together, are called
macronutrients, and all of them are obtained from the soil.
