Answer to Question 1

Natural seedingremaining trees reseed the harvested area.
 Direct seedingtree seeds are applied to the harvested area.
 Cuttings (sticks)hardwood cuttings are put into the ground and allowed to take root and grow.
 Seedlingsyoung tree seedlings are transplanted.

The answers will vary. Students favoring clear cutting should mention efficiency, maximum wood production,
and wildlife benefits. Students opposing clear cutting should mention erosion, changes in the balance of nature,
and appearance.
