Answer to Question 1

Clearing land for agricultural production, construction, or any other human use allows accelerated erosion to
occur. The diversion of surface runoff from its natural path (e.g., by a large parking lot) causes erosion

Answer to Question 2

Accelerated erosion is the loss of surface soil to water and wind that results when the natural vegetative cover is
damaged or removed by some action of humans
