Answer to Question 1

The maximum ongoing population of a plant or animal species that can survive in a given ecosystem is the carrying
capacity.

Answer to Question 2

A food chain is a linked group of plants and animals that feed on or provide nourishment to each other. A plant
grows in the soil. A small animal eats the plant. A predator eats the small animal. The predator dies and decays.
The nutrients from its body return to the soil to be used by another plant.
