Have you ever seen this phenomenon in the milk you have at home? Under

Answer to Question 1

Student answers will vary. Milk that is very old will separate out in this manner. This
milk will also have a strong sour odor.



Answer to Question 2

The vinegar acts to reverse the process of homogenization, allowing the fat globules
to collect and rise to the top of the milk.
