Answer to Question 1

Since they require materials to construct and soil to fill, the expense can be a factor.
Soil and minerals will need to be added. Growing space and crowding will limit plant
options. In hot climates, the roots may dry out more quickly.

Answer to Question 2

Weed and insect control is easier. They also provide better drainage and prevent soil
compaction. Raised beds are more ergonomic since gardeners do not have to bend
over as far and can be more accessible to people with disabilities. It is easier to keep
plants separated by type or treatment if using them in a study.
