The most notable characteristic of hedgehogs is the spines that the animal has developed as a means of
defense.
Other characteristics are long snouts, four digits on each foot, and 36 to 48 teeth. Hedgehogs have large
eyes and ears. Their tails are very short, and most species have short legs. Their life span is about five years.
They make very little noise except for low grunts and clicks.



Answer to Question 2

The amount of time one has and one's ability to care for a hedgehog.
One can be pricked by the spines of the animal when handling it.
Check the cage of the animal to make sure the cage and animal are clean.
Check the health of the animal.
