Answer to Question 1

D
Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a progressive, degenerative disease of the muscles that is passed from mother to son. Common symptoms include delayed motor development; difficulty standing or walking; progressive muscle weakness; increasing abnormalities in gait and posture; lordosis; pelvic waddling; and frequent falling. Gower's sign, or walking the hands or legs to move from sitting to standing, and flat affect and smile, are classic symptoms. Children with this disease usually do not live past the age of 20.

Answer to Question 2

A
