When transmission-based precautions are in effect, it is important to plan frequent contact with the client in order to reduce social isolation. It is inappropriate to guarantee recovery to the client. Reading material may be helpful but does not reduce the isolation effects of being on precautions. Assessment for depression may be warranted but assessment alone does not minimize the psychological effects of this form of treatment.
