This could make a huge impact on a hospital's finances, especially in a rural area populated by a large number of older adults with chronic illnesses. The DON could collaborate with the administrator to create billable services to help make up for this shortfall.
Informing the administrator of research findings will not change the financial impact of a telehealth service.
Lobbying for third-party reimbursement is an excellent choice but would take too long to be the best action.
Writing grants would also be an excellent choice, but the grant process is arduous and takes too long to be the best option, plus it will not address the real concern of loss of income.
