Answer to Question 1

B
Many patients feel guilt, embarrassment, and anxiety about contracting an STI; this can cause them to defer care until the problem becomes severe. Although knowledge about the severity of STIs may be insufficient, this should not deter seeking care. Regardless of lifestyle, STIs should be treated immediately to prevent further transmission. The role of the health care provider is to establish a trusting relationship. A person may be open to discussing health promotion behaviors but may still be hesitant to discuss STIs.

Answer to Question 2

C
A lateral rotation bed is recommended for clients who are at risk for or have developed atelecta-sis and/or pneumonia.
A foam mattress is recommended for pressure reduction in clients at high risk for developing a pressure ulcer.
An air-fluidized bed is used to prevent skin breakdown and may be used to protect newly flapped or grafted surgical sites and for clients with excessive moisture.
A low-air-loss bed is used for prevention or treatment of skin breakdown.
