Answer to Question 1

ANS: B
The greatest concern for a patient taking a menotropin is ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. The syndrome is characterized by sudden enlargement of the ovaries, which may be accompanied by ascites (fluid wave test), pleural effusion, and considerable pain.
Leg pain, dyspepsia, and breast tenderness are not likely to occur when taking Repronex.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: A
The nurse should advise the patients to have intercourse the evening before the injection and on the following 2 to 3 days (during the probable period of ovulation).
Having intercourse the morning of the hCG injection and later that evening will not enhance the effects of menotropin.
Avoiding intercourse the evening of the injection and on the following day will not enhance the effects of menotropin.
Having intercourse the evening of the injection and on the following morning will not enhance the effects of menotropin.
