The bed should be raised to a comfortable working height to aid the nurse's access to the patient and to minimize strain on the nurse's back muscles. The patient's gown or pajamas are removed and the bath blanket is used to cover the patient. This provides full exposure of body parts during bathing. The head of the bed is raised 30 to 45 degrees if the patient's condition allows.
