Do not position a patient in a prone (face-down) position on an air-fluidized bed. Suffocation may occur. In emergencies when resuscitation is required, press the CPR switch and unplug the unit to defluidize the bed immediately. To turn patients, position bedpans, or perform other therapies, stop fluidization. Once the procedure is complete, set to continuous fluidization. Stopping fluidization provides firm, molded support that facilitates turning and handling of the patient. Continuous fluidization provides permanent fluid support.
