Answer to Question 1

Beiguan musicians are considerate of one another, are inclusive in their performance activities and see themselves as members of a community organization. One or two senior players act as teachers and maintain standards.

Answer to Question 2

Gongche is a Chinese notational system similar to the Western do-re-mi system for locating a tone's position in the scaleeach tone-symbol stands for the tone's relative place in the scale being currently used (i.e., the Western do is always the first scale degree regardless of its absolute pitch, re is always the second scale degree, mi is always the third scale degree, etc.)
