Answer to Question 1

Lead refers both to the opening phrase of the push-up and the singer who performs it.
Seconds refer both to the remaining phrases of each verse and to all the singers who perform those phrases.

Answer to Question 2

 Gizhebs is a word song.
The overall shape of the melody still moves from high to low, but the individual phrases are much longer and more undulating, making it difficult to hear the form.
