 When air monitoring for a 24-hour period shows the presence of methane or any other flammable gas in concentrations of 10 or more of the lower explosive limit measured at 12 inches from the floor, ceiling, or walls of the underground work area.
 When the geological formation or history of the work area makes it likely that the conditions just explained will exist.
