This is correct, as we have seen in the case of both conduction and convection.

Answer to Question 2

This depends. Chemical reactions can take place in machines. In this case,
chemical energy can be produced. If no chemical reactions are used, then this is incorrect.
In all machines, some energy is lost to friction (thermal energy is generated).
