You are given a piece of pie straight out of the oven, so the crust and the filling are at the same temperature. You sample a piece of crust with no problem, but when you put a piece of filling in your mouth, you burn your tongue. Why?

Because the filling is moist while the crust is dry, so that the filling has a much greater heat capacity.
