Two main goals were to increase productivity and to make the job easier. Found to be too mechanistic, not recognizing difference in organizations and people

job spec--a written statement of the minimum standards that must be met by an applicant for a particular job; used primarily by the employing officer in the selection and placement of the right person for the specific position.
job description--an organized list of duties that reflects required skills and responsibilities in a specific position; valuable for matching qualified applicants to the job, for orientation and training of employees, for performance appraisals, for establishing rates of pay, and for defining the limits of authority and responsibility.
job schedule--an outline of work to be performed by an individual with stated procedures and time requirements for the duties; helpful in training new employees.
