Answer to Question 1

The dietitian changed Mrs. C's hs snack to provide slightly more carbohydrate, more protein, and more fat. This would provide more total calories and hopefully would prevent her from burning an excessive amount of her body fat as was indicated by the small ketones found in the urine in the morning.

Answer to Question 2

Acid increases the absorption of vitamin C, including ascorbic acid found in orange juice.
