Answer to Question 1

Precose (acrbose) is an -glucosidase inhibitor used in the management of type 2 diabetes. It delays the absorption of glucose, but since this allows some glucose to then pass to the large intestine undigested, it is digested by the bacteria there and causes gas, bloating, and possibly diarrhea, depending on the dose used.

Answer to Question 2

Stool positive for occult blood, gastric analysis, UGI, and the test for H. pylori.
