Answer to Question 1

Hgb, Hct, and MCV are low due to anemia, probably secondary to iron deficiency. Lymphocytes, TP, and serum albumin are low secondary to protein deficiency. P is low probably due to malnutrition.

Answer to Question 2

Hgb, Hct, Glu, and Na are all elevated probably due to dehydration. AST could be elevated due to a reaction to medications. Lymphocytes are low probably due to protein malnutrition. WBC is elevated secondary to the bladder infection. MCV is depressed, could be due to iron or B6 deficiency. Low cholesterol may be normal for Mrs. SJ or may be malnutrition. TP is low with a normal serum albumin. Serum albumin and immunoglobulins make up most of TP. Serum albumin is on the low side of normal so immunoglobulins are probably low, which goes with malnutrition.
