Answer to Question 1

C
Energy needs of burned patients are influenced by size of the burn. Patients are not usually active after major burns, so activity does not affect energy needs. Emotional stress does not affect energy needs. Energy needs are not affected by the cause of the burn.

Answer to Question 2

1, 4

Rationale: This client has pneumocystis carinii pneumonia and may have an impaired gas exchange. There is nothing to suggest that the client is experiencing altered urinary elimination. Due to the medications used to treat and manage HIV/ AIDS, they are often nauseated and are less likely to eat adequate amounts of kilocalories and nutrients. Clients with HIV can develop encephalopathy, enteropathy, myalgia, and wasting syndrome. The client with HIV and AIDS may be confused and weak. They may have chronic diarrhea. Their metabolism may be increased which can increase their risk of malnutrition. There is nothing to suggest that the client has fluid volume excess. This client is more likely experiencing fluid volume deficit due to the chronic diarrhea and potential nausea.
