Answer to Question 1

Look for the recycle category 7 triangle on the bottom of plastic bottles or the letters PC for polycarbonate. This indicates that the container may contain BPA and should be avoided. BPA is also found in the lining of canned foods (foods in glass jars is safe), about half of the thermal receipts you receive during checkout, and a few other types of plastic packaging.

Answer to Question 2

After a period of time, cancer cells may start to produce chemicals that signal the body to grow a new network of blood and lymphatic vessels that serve to penetrate the tumor and help it grow. These new vessels deliver oxygen and nutrients to the growing tumor and carry away waste products. Normally, this process, called angiogenesis, is limited to situations such as wound healing or fetal development. During cancer, however, angiogenesis contributes to metastasis by allowing cancerous cells to break away from a malignant tumor and migrate to other parts of the body through the new blood and lymphatic vessels. There, they can cause a new cancer.
