In other words, behavior-modification techniques will not be successful unless the person is able to understand what behaviors are being reinforced. They are not being treated against their will.

FEEDBACK: Considerable research on modeling has been conducted on self-efficacy during and after behavior modification therapy. The results have shown that as the subjects' self-efficacy improved during treatment, they were increasingly able to deal with the source of the fear.
