How do you use the Offset tool when you want to offset all edges around a face? Only some of the edges around a face?

To avoid giving a false impression of thickness and solidity

To offset all edges, simply activate Offset, click the face, and move the cursor until the offset edges are where you want them. To offset only some of the edges, you need to select the edges in advance, then activate Offset.
