Answer to Question 1

Food sold within cities has shifted from traditional foods
toward highly processed food. Fast-food restaurants
have also replaced some vendors that would normally
sell local foods. Consequently, many of the same
developing regions of the world that have historically
faced food shortages are now engaged in this nutrition
transition, which is resulting in both undernutrition and
obesity. The need to address both undernutrition and
overnutrition simultaneously is a major challenge to
global health.
