Despite food insecurity being a problem in prosperous
  countries such as the United States, it's not usually
  associated with detectable signs of malnutrition. This
  means that in the United States, clinical measurements
  such as low height and weight that are normally indicative
  of poor nutritional status are not always good indicators
  of food insecurity. How is food insecurity assessed in the

availability. Using the results of that survey the USDA can
classify the food-insecure respondent as having either low
food security or very low food security.
