Answer to Question 1

ANS: Hypertension is referred to as the silent killer because there aren't any outward symptoms that your blood pressure is dangerously elevated. It develops gradually, and people can have it for years without knowing that they have it. To avoid this unawareness, a person should have his or her blood pressure checked regularly.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: Heme iron is part of the protein hemoglobin (in your red blood cells. and myoglobin in your muscles. Heme iron comes from animal sources, such as meat, poultry, and fish. Non-heme iron, on the other hand, comes from plant foods, such as grains and vegetables. Non-heme iron is less easily absorbed than heme iron because the substances in plant foods known as phytates inhibit absorption. Compounds in tea and coffee, called polyphenols, can also inhibit absorption. One can enhance non-heme iron absorption by eating foods high in vitamin C along with iron-rich foods.

Your skin wrinkles if you stay in the bathtub a long time because the outermost layer of skin (which consists of dead keratin) swells when it absorbs water. It is tightly attached to the skin below it, so it compensates for the increased area by wrinkling. This happens to the hands and feet because they have the thickest layer of dead keratin cells.
