Answer to Question 1

ANS: Potassium helps reduce the risk of kidney stones by causing the body to excrete citrate, a compound that binds with calcium to form kidney stones. Calcium binds with the oxalates in foods in the intestines and prevents their absorption. With fewer oxalates filtering through the kidneys, fewer stones are formed.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: Based on the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH. study, the DASH diet is low in fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, and sweets, and high in whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and low-fat dairy products. It has been proven to significantly reduce blood pressure.
