Wash hands and all surfaces that food will touch. Rinse fruits and vegetables before eating. Keep raw meats separate from all other foods, along with the utensils, cutting boards, etc., used to prepare raw meats. Cook all foods, especially meats, properly. You can't always tell by sight, so use a food thermometer. Keep cold foods cold, and hot foods hot. If in doubt, throw it out.
